Reports
In assessing the students, the academic year is divided into 3 terms. A report showing the student's grade for each subject is given to parents at the end of each term. The only mark shown in the School Report is that of the Final Exam. In Form 7 the Reports consist solely of marks.
The School Report, in addition to the grades, contains the following in separate columns:
the name of the teacher, for each subject;
a description of the effort, for each subject;
a final comment on holistic performance for each subject throughout the year;
absences/tardiness.
Homework, Tests, and Exams
The School approach to the academic assessment of students encourages studying on a daily basis. In all subjects, students are given homework and class work assignments, project work, quizzes, and are regularly tested on the material taught. Emphasis is also given to oral participation. The students are examined at the end of each year in the majority of the subjects taught.
Promotion to next Form
The pass-grade (in each subject) for promotion to a higher Form is E. A student is not promoted to the next Form if he/she fails 2 subjects. If a student fails 1 subject, he/she will be re-examined during the Re-examination period the following September and will be promoted only if his/her performance in Re-examination is satisfactory. Students of Form 7 who fail to graduate in June do not repeat the Form but are required to pass re-examinations in the subjects they have failed, in September following the date of their leaving the School.
The School reserves the right not to accept re-enrolment of a student if he/she had been found guilty of serious disciplinary offences during the academic year.
Apolytirion
Students who successfully complete the course of studies in Form 7 are awarded the School Apolytirion . The Apolytirion is fully recognized by the Ministry of Education and Culture, foreign academic institutions and all local employers. The Apolytirion mark is calculated by working out the simple average of all subjects taught during the 3-monthly terms in Form 7. |
