Science Club Open-Panel Discussion

Science and Religion:
Where Physics Meets the Christian Church

The Science Club has invited Father Panayiotis (a Christian Orthodox priest and former Theologian at our School) for an open-panel debate with Dr. Stelios Tsangarides (a Physics teacher of the School). The discussion will last approximately 1 hour, and will assess the common ground between the Sciences and the Christian Church on the following topics:

• Astrology and the Notion of Destiny: Christian and Scientific Views
• The Star of Bethlehem
• Cosmology and the Bible

The program for the day is as follows. The views of the Greek Orthodox Church on these topics will be presented briefly by Father Panayiotis ( 14:00 – 14:15), and scientific views will be outlined by Dr. Stelios Tsangarides ( 14:15 – 14:30). The floor will open at 14:30, at which time both speakers will accept questions from the audience.
