   Research

At the GCS we encourage students to develop all-round personalities characterized by self-confidence and broad-mindedness. Activities which involve research have been integrated in the curriculum in the form of project work or participation in research programmes. The involvement of students in such activities stimulates their interest and helps them develop their critical thinking skills.

Lower School students are assigned projects for which they have to search for sources and information, and present their findings before an audience. These assignments are usually on issues or topics discussed in class and encourage students to pursue the subject matter further.

Some of our current research activities in the Upper Forms include The GCS Galilean Telescope Project – the first Galilean telescope to be built entirely by secondary school students in Cyprus – and the ΜΕΡΑ Programme ( “Pupils in Research”) organised by the Research Promotion Foundation and the Cyprus Paedagogical Institution.
