On 18 December, 17 GCS students from the Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary School took part in the 1^st Cyprus Schools Grand Prix Nicosia 2022. The event was individual with players collecting points for their respective schools with the best school in each category receiving a trophy. There will be 4 tournaments in the school year 2022-2023 with the best three schools in each category at the end of the series being awarded trophies and special prizes. Andreas Petrakides of Form 4, took third place in the individual event for Secondary students. GCS won the Primary category and shared first place in the Kindergarden category.
