Having excelled in the first phase of the National Statistics Competition where more than 100 teams participated, the ‘StatRocks’ were among the 11 teams to proceed to the second phase. The Statistics Competition is a competition organised by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, the Ministry of Education, the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus Statistical Society, with the aim to promote statistical literacy, curiosity and interest in official statistics among students and teachers.
Each team is made up of 2-3 students and their tutor. Our team is made up of three Year 5 students: Konstantinos Charalambous, Antonis Dianellos and Varnavas Hadjipanayis, and their tutor, Mrs Eleni Apostolou. They worked hard, diligently with an amazing enthusiasm and creativity. They analysed the dataset given to them and presented their findings in a power point presentation. We are proud to announce that this hard work has earned them the ticket to the European Statistics competition! This competition is organised by volunteering NSIs and Eurostat.
In this new challenge the team will have to make a video, in which they will have to select, present and reference official statistics to support their message on the topic of Welfare. We wish them all the best in this new endeavour!
