On November 18-20, the form 5 Geography class were at the Cyprus Environmental Studies Centre -Terra Cypria, in Kritou Terra to carry out the compulsory Coastal and Urban fieldwork components for their IGCSE exams. Such residential field trips allow them to gain practical skills in an ‘out of classroom’ environment which are important in connecting the theory taught in the classroom to the real world. In addition, this holistic learning approach helps them to develop team work, analytical and critical thinking skills as well as carrying out student led activities under supervision. Aside from the academic component, the social benefits of spending time together, building relationships through shared new experiences are long lasting and memorable both for the students and the teachers involved.
Well done form 5 Geographers! Your behavior throughout was exemplary.
