Some of our 5th and 6th form geography students joined other youths from Cyprus in one of the most successful protests about climate change to date. This Global Strike for Climate, started by Greta Thunberg has inspired youths from 150 countries to raise their voices and be heard. The students gathered at the House of Representatives and marched to the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry. Their objective was raise awareness of the need to live more sustainably. Also to urge parliament to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and take advantage of our most abundant renewable resource – solar; to take more action to reduce air, land and water based pollution; encourage the reduction of single use plastics and implement a much more effective recycling programme nationwide.
