As part of the Careers Department’s endeavour to gather knowledge from Universities across Europe and America, on Wednesday, 22 November, Mrs Marianna Zittis, Head of Careers, travelled to Switzerland and participated in the International School Counsellor Conference 2023 organised by Swiss Education Group. The visit included one representative from each of the 30 countries visiting three universities, all close to Geneva: the César Ritz Colleges & Culinary Arts Academy, SHMS, Swiss Hotel Management School and HIM Montreux Business School which has recently added a BA degree in Business Administration.
These Swiss schools are extremely focused on Industry, all offering internships of over 12 months as part of their 3-year programmes. The fees include tuition, accommodation and three meals per day. The scenery is magnificent and the discipline and organisation is incomparable.
On the visit, Mrs Zittis was excited to meet our very own GCS graduate 2022, Ioannis Tsiolis, who is currently studying Culinary Arts at César Ritz Colleges & Culinary Arts Academy, Le Bouveret.
The universities also offer summer programmes under the name Swiss Education Academy, including a language programme for students aged 10 – 16, and a hospitality or Culinary programme for students aged 16 – 20. This is an extremely good option for students who are considering the hospitality industry, as living there for a few weeks will give them a great indication of what university life will be like. For more information, interested students are very welcome to contact one of the Careers Counsellors.
