On Friday, 3 February, the Physics Department hosted a guest who actually does space science for a living! Kendeas Karantonis, a Space Programs Manager for Hellas Sat, was kind enough to take time out of his busy schedule to visit our School and give us a presentation on the space science that enables humanity to set artificial satellites in orbit around Earth. He also shared with us his own experiences with designing, building and launching the Hellas Sat missions that he was involved in, and how these are controlled by the ground stations in Greece and Cyprus. It turns out that there are many unsung heroes in Cyprus, and quite a range of future possibilities for young and eager minds!
