The G C School Eco Club attends Climate Change Conference!
On Friday 8th of July, the G C School’s Eco Club students participated in a Climate Change Conference at the University of Cyprus, organised by Terra Cypria and Generation KlimACT. Guest speakers included Ms Theodota Nantsou, Head of WWF Greece, Ms Klelia Vasssiliou, the Commissioner for the Environment in Cyprus and Ms Alexandra Attalidou from the Green party. The conference highlighted the fact that our youth, the generation that is inheriting the problems created by the climate crisis must continue to be active citizens and put pressure on governments in order to bring about any meaningful change in policies reducing carbon emissions in domestic, industrial and transport sectors.
It was also concluded that the only way to achieve a safer and more sustainable world would be to rebuild our relationship with nature and to acknowledge how important it is in protecting our “common house”.
Therefore, by incorporating the importance and the protection of our environment in all academic disciplines, such as engineering, architecture, business studies, law and medicine, we will be able to achieve a better and more sustainable future for us all.
