The School congratulates Fedra Antoniadou, a G C School Graduate of 2018, for achieving a merit-based scholarship from the University of Edinburgh. The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582, is the sixth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland’s ancient universities. It is a Russell Group University, deeply embedded in the fabric of the city of Edinburgh, with many of the buildings in the historic Old Town belonging to the university. With an acceptance rate of just 10%, an offer from this university is a great achievement in itself. Each year, the School of Physics and Astronomy awards a small number of entrance scholarships, funded by a bequest from the late Mrs Margaret Campbell Scott. The awards are made to entrants who, in the judgement of the School, have achieved the best entrance qualifications in Physics and Mathematics. Fedra began her degree in Physics in September 2018. We are confident she will excel at university, just as she did at school, and we wish her every bit of success.
