Our school has been selected to participate in the Junior Achievement Sci-Tech Challenge 2023.
The Sci-Tech Challenge is a programme which has been running in Europe since 2010, and it is implemented in Cyprus for the third consecutive year by Junior Achievement Cyprus and their partners ExxonMobil Cyprus.
Sci-Tech Challenge is a programme designed to motivate students, aged 15-18, to consider career paths in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of STEM skills and how they can be applied in resourceful ways to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
A classroom visit took place on 22nd March by an ExxonMobil mentor who informed our young form 4 chemistry students about STEM education. The speech was followed by a workshop during which students had to “come up with a solution that would improve energy efficiency in the schools of tomorrow”. Groups consisting of 5 or 6 members were formed to discuss and present their results. After this process, 5 students were selected to represent our school at the National Sci-Tech Challenge 2023 on April 6. These students are Andreas Christou, Giorgos Papacharalambous, Ioli Demetriou, Orestis Stylianides and Stefanos Constantinou.
