On 18th November, 2024 Dr Emilios A Solomou, Vice Chair of the Royal Commonwealth Society Cyprus (RCS), awarded the students who entered The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2024 and gave a small speech in recognition of their effort and outstanding performance.
We are thrilled to announce that five of our Form 5 students were awarded with Silver and Bronze awards:
Silver Award: Marcia Mourouzidou and Anastasia Stylianidi
Bronze Award: Fotini Achilleos, Stavros Philippides and Viktoras Zachariades
This year’s theme was “One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth” with a record-breaking 40,000 entries from across all Commonwealth regions. Their teachers promoted the essay competition to their classes last year and encouraged their students to write to show their creative talents by exploring new ideas, considering their own connection to the Commonwealth, whilst fostering an empathetic and open-minded world view. It is the fifth year running that the school has endeavoured to promote literacy, expression and creativity through The QCEC.
